General Introduction to Using the TreeWebsite Service
Step 1: Register with TreeWebsite
- Click on the 'register' link in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
- Registration is free and only requires an email address, password, and your first name.
- Once you register, you can login and logout of your account.
Step 2: How to Login and Logout
- If you just registered, you are already logged in.
- If you are logged in, it will say 'Hello, yourname' in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
- In the future, you may login by clicking 'login' in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Or if you go to the 'My Account' page and are not logged in, it will automatically prompt you to login.
- You may logout by clicking on 'logout' in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Step 3: Create a treewebsite
- Go to the 'My Account' page and click the 'Create New' button.
- Enter a name for your treewebsite.
- Click on the 'Edit' button located to the right of your treewebsite's name. Then simply follow the instructions on the 'Edit' page.
- You do not need to create your entire website at one time. You may save your changes and edit the site later (see Step 4).
Step 4: Edit your treewebsite
- Go the 'My Account' page and click on the 'Edit' button located to the right of the treewebsite that you would like to edit.
- If you have not yet purchased your site, you will only be able to edit your treewebsite for one week from the creation date.
Step 5: View your treewebsite
- Go to the 'My Account' page and click on the 'View' button located to the right of the treewebsite that you would like to view.
- If you have not yet completed your website there may be blank sections when you view your treewebsite.
- If you have not yet purchased your site, you will only be able to view your treewebsite for one week from the creation date. You may view your site in one of two ways:
- Go to the 'My Account' page and click on the 'View' button located to the right of the treewebsite that you would like to view.
- Go to http://yournamehere.treewebsite.com, where yournamehere is your treewebsite's name.
- If you have purchased your site, you may view it anytime. You may view your site in the two ways described above or additionally by going to http://www.yourdomainname.com, where yourdomainname is the domain you setup after you purchased the site (see Step 7).
Step 6: Purchase your treewebsite
- To purchase your treewebsite, go to the 'My Account' page and click on the 'Buy' button located to the right of the treewebsite that you would like to buy.
- If you created a treewebsite for which the one week trial period has expired, you are still able to buy it. The 'View'/'Edit' functionality which was turned off will once again be available once the site has been purchased.
- Clicking on the 'Buy' button will take you to PayPal (a well-known, secure, online payment site) where you will be able to pay with credit card. You will not need a PayPal account to make the purchase.
- Once the treewebsite has been purchased, you can then setup the domain name by clicking on the 'Domain' button and following the instructions (see Step 7).
Step 7: Setup the Domain Name for your treewebsite
- Once you have purchased a treewebsite, you will be able to choose a domain name for it (for example: www.mytreefarm.com). Once your domain name is setup, anyone who goes to www.mytreefarm.com will see your treewebsite.
- To setup your domain name, go the 'My Account' page and click on the 'Domain' button located to the right of the treewebsite for which you would like to setup the domain. Then simply follow the instructions.
- If you already own a domain name and would like to use it for your treewebsite, click on the 'Domain' button for directions on how to link your treewebsite to your existing domain name.
Step 8: Renew your treewebsite
- A year after you purchase your site, it will be time to renew. We will send you a reminder email one month in advance.
- To renew, simply go to the 'My Account' page and click on the 'Renew' button located to the right of the treewebsite you would like to renew.
- Clicking on the 'Renew' button will take you to PayPal (a well-known, secure, online payment site) where you will be able to pay with credit card. You will not need a PayPal account to make the purchase.
